Bernedoodles are a hybrid breed that combines the best traits of a Bernese Mountain Dog and a Standard Poodle. They are affectionately referred to as the "Gentle Giants" or the "Velcro dogs" and are just as great with children as they are with adults. They are incredibly intelligent and easy to train, with some Bernedoodles learning commands in as little as a few weeks. Bernedoodles also have a very lowto non-shedding coat, making them a great option for those with allergies.
The Bernedoodle coat is a unique combination of the Bernese Mountain Dog and the Poodle, producing an intelligent and loyal breed with a hypoallergenic medium to long-haired coat. Depending on the generations, these coats can have differing degrees of waviness and be all-black, black-and-white, or even tri-colored. Whatever their color and wave, Bernedoodle coats are quite dense and range from very soft and silky to wiry.
Bernedoodles typically have a healthy appetite, so a balanced diet is important for their well-being. Generally, Bernedoodles do best with a high-quality, complete and balanced dry dog food diet, supplemented with appropriate treats and occasional meals of cooked, lean meat and rice or animal-based canned food. Nutrient-rich vegetables and fruits such as leafy greens, celery, and pumpkin can also be added to their meals. It is recommended that Bernedoodles eat two to three meals per day, spaced evenly throughout the day.
