Bernedoodles are designer dogs created by the combination of Bernese Mountain Dogs and Poodles. They are loyal, intelligent, and social dogs and make excellent family pets, being friendly and gentle with children. Bernedoodles require minimal grooming and often do not shed or, if they do, shed very lightly. They are also easy to train and can excel in obedience or agility competitions. Bernedoodles should be exercised regularly, and enjoy daily walks and other activities. Bernedoodles should be socialized early, as well as provided with positive reinforcement when learning new commands.
Bernedoodles have a unique coat that is often described as 'Groodle-like'. The Bernedoodle typically has a soft, wavy coat that can range from a light fawn or cream color to a deep caramel brown or even to a black color. The texture is usually shaggy or silky and can be straight as well as wavy. Bernedoodles require regular grooming including brushing and combing to keep the coat in top condition.
Bernedoodles should be fed quality dog food that is tailored to meet the needs of larger breeds. The food should be rich in protein and contain quality ingredients like whole grains and fatty acids. Avoid any dog food with fillers like corn or wheat, as these can be difficult to digest. We also recommend supplementing their diet with healthy human-grade snacks such as carrots, apples and cottage cheese.

A younger, more active Bernedoodle may need longer and more frequent walks than an older, more sedentary Bernedoodle.
