Bernedoodles are an increasingly popular crossbreed that have the potential to be the perfect family pet. While they have the size and gentle temperament of the Bernese Mountain Dog, they also have the intelligence, playfulness, and low-shedding coat of the Poodle. Bernedoodles are incredibly smart and can learn even complex tricks quickly and easily. They're also great with children, but their large size means they're not the best fit for very small homes.
Bernedoodles have a lower-than-average shedding rate, so they are often considered "non-shedding." Although they do not shed as much as other dog breeds, they will still require brushing and grooming regularly to prevent their coat from becoming matted. Bernedoodles are a hybrid cross between Bernese Mountain Dog and a Poodle, which makes them a very desirable pet due to the poodle's low-shed coat and the Bernese Mountain Dog's large size, gentle nature and loving disposition.
Bernedoodles often eat a normal diet of kibble, but can also benefit from eating more natural foods like lean meats, fruits, and vegetables. A Bernedoodle's diet should be balanced, nutrient-rich and tailored to their specific needs. Wet canned food and raw diets can be given as well, but owners should keep in mind that some of these foods have to be properly cooked before given to your Bernedoodle. Owners should also be sure to keep up with their pup's nutrition with supplements or extra nutrients if needed.

Bernedoodles usually range from small to large and can come in a variety of sizes, depending on the breeding. Standard Bernedoodles are typically in the range of 55 to 88 pounds, Mini Bernedoodles are usually between 25 and 49 pounds, and Micro Mini Bernedoodles usually range between 15 and 24 pounds. Additionally, Tiny Bernedoodles weigh typically between 8 and 14 pounds.
Bernedoodles are fairly active dogs with an exercise requirement suited for larger breeds. As with any dog, regular exercise is important for its physical health and ongoing behavior. It's recommended that Bernedoodles get between 60 and 90 minutes of exercise each day, with at least two 15 minute walks plus additional playtime. Depending on the age and size of your Bernedoodle, plus their medical history and the climate of your living area, the amount of exercise may vary.
Bernedoodles make wonderful family dogs as long as their special needs are met. They become greatly attached to their owners and often prefer to be around them. Bernedoodles love going outside, being around people, and being part of the family pack. They are known to be intelligent, outgoing, laid-back, and have a desire to please. Bernedoodles are highly intelligent, active and social dogs that require plenty of consistent, positive reinforcement-based training to either stay engaged or, at the very least, remain obedient. Giving your Bernedoodle plenty of stimulating activities helps them learn faster, but all challenging tasks should be taught gradually and calmly in order to minimize stress.
