Bernedoodles are a hybrid dog breed created by crossing a Bernese Mountain Dog with a Poodle. Both breeds are considered to have friendly, loyal temperaments, and the Bernedoodle combines these lovely traits. They are smart, easy to train, and often-times hypoallergenic thanks to the Poodle's low-shedding coat. Another fun fact about Bernedoodles is that they are often referred to as clown dogs, thanks to their goofy and playful personalities.
Bernedoodles are a popular crossbred dog that have become known for their hypoallergenic coat, but this depends on the type of Bernedoodle you own. F1-B or first generation Bernedoodles have a 50/50 parentage of purebred Bernese Mountain Dog and purebred Poodle and their coat will be of the poodle's hypoallergenicity. However, their F1 counterparts with a Bernese Mountain Dog parent will have a coating that may or may not be hypoallergenic.
Bernedoodles have a diet that is unique to their breed. Generally, they should be fed a diet rich in nutrients that resembles the diet of their parent breeds, the Bernese Mountain Dog and Poodle. It should contain a mixture of high-quality dog food, such as kibble, wet food, and raw food. Also, a balanced home-cooked diet of lean proteins, fresh fruits and vegetables, and omega-3 fatty acid rich fish like salmon and mackerel is ideal for Bernedoodles.
