A Bernedoodle is a hybrid breed of dog that is a combination of a Bernese Mountain Dog and a Poodle. This designer breed is recognized for their intelligence, loyalty, and gentle nature. They are often referred to as the 'teddy bear' of dogs. This loyal companion loves spending time with its family and makes an excellent choice for first-time dog owners. The Bernedoodle coat is actually quite unique! It's a cross between a Bernese Mountain Dog and a Poodle, so depending on which parent breed it takes after it can range from a thick, coarse, straight topcoat outlined by a fluffier, wavy, and sometimes even curly undercoat to a wavy, curly and dense coat of fur. Generally, Bernedoodles have a soft texture, often with a curly crimp on the body and wavy fur on the legs and chest.
Bernedoodles typically require a higher-quality, balanced diet than other dog breeds due to their unique needs. The amount of food should be determined by their activity level and adjusting for weight gain or loss as needed. Generally, an adult Bernedoodle should consume 1.5 to 2 cups of complete and balanced food two times per day. It is recommended that they be given food formulated for active and larger breed dogs as this provides a proper balance of proteins, carbs, and other crucial nutrients.
