Bernedoodles are a unique breed of designer dog that is a cross between a Bernese Mountain Dog and a Poodle. They are affectionate, low-maintenance, and low-shedding dogs that make wonderful companions.
Bernedoodles are a designer breed of dog that is sought after for many reasons, many of which have to do with their lovable personalities and low-to-non-shedding coats. Bernedoodles, because of the genetic blend of the Bernese Mountain Dog and the Poodle, have a combination of the Bernese Mountain Dog's luxurious coat and the Poodle's non-shedding, hypo-allergenic fur.
Bernedoodles are smart and active dogs, so you must provide them with a nutrition plan that supports their individual needs. In general, a good quality dry kibble is the best choice for your Bernedoodle. Kibble should contain nutrient-rich, age-appropriate ingredients that promote healthy development and provide energy for play and training. To ensure your pup is getting the necessary vitamins and minerals, supplement their kibble with fresh fruits and vegetables, such as apples, cauliflower, carrots, green beans, and spinach. Keep treats to a minimum, to avoid overfeeding and/or obesity.
Preparing your home for a new Bernedoodle can be a fun and exciting experience. First, you'll want to make sure the area your Bernedoodle will be spending most of its time is safe, secure and has appropriate chew toys. You'll also want to make certain that your furniture and access to the outdoors are puppy-proofed, so as to discourage any destructive behaviors. Keeping it well-groomed and healthy is also important, so you may want to consider providing it entertainment in the form of interactive toys or puzzle feeders.
Bernedoodles typically come in three different size variations: standard, miniature, and toy. On average, standard Bernedoodles measure 23-29 inches at the shoulder and weigh 60-90 pounds. A miniature variation of this breed stands roughly 18-22 inches and weighs anywhere from 25-49 pounds. The toy variation is the smallest, typically standing 12-17 inches and weighing between10-24 pounds. It's important to note, however, that all sizes can vary depending on the combination of the parents' size.
The amount of minutes per day that a Bernedoodle should be walked depends on the age and temperament of your individual pup, as every pooch is unique! Generally speaking, a healthy, adult Bernedoodle should get around 30-60 minutes of physical activity per day, but this can increase to up to 2 hours if your pup is especially active or young. You may even want to break up the walks into shorter, multiple trips per day since your dog will benefit from both the physical exercise and the mental stimulation.

They are excellent working dogs, and their intelligence and trainability are unmatched for many obedience tasks.
