Bernedoodles are a mix between a Bernese Mountain Dog and a Poodle, usually of the mini or miniature variety. They are renowned for their intelligence, loyalty, and love for human companionship. They also have a playful side that makes them great family pets. Bernedoodles can have several different levels of shedding, depending on their parent breeds. That being said, even if they shed, they tend to do so lightly and lack the odor common to heavy shedders.
Bernedoodles have similar dietary requirements to other breeds of dog. However, like any other breed, Bernedoodles can have their own, unique dietary needs and preferences. Depending on the individual, Bernedoodles may require a diet that provides higher levels of fat and protein, especially if they are very active; or a diet catered to support a more sedentary lifestyle. Additionally, Bernedoodles may require more amino acids such as taurine and L-carnitine to support their cardiovascular system, skeletal muscles and overall health.
Preparing your home for a Bernedoodle is a great idea to make sure your new pup has a safe and comfortable environment. Start by investing in some puppy-proofing items like puppy gates, exercising pens, and durable chew toys. Make sure to pick up some doggie bedding and have your carpets and furniture threatened with a pet-friendly treatment. It's also a good idea to set clear boundaries on where in the home your Bernedoodle can and cannot go, and to also determine what furniture is off-limits.
