Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are affectionate, intelligent, and loyal dogs who make great companions! Though they are small, they are surprisingly active and enjoy going for walks or hikes, playing fetch, and even running! Though they’re independent, they love being around people and typically form tight bonds with their owners. They’re also friendly and tend to get along well with other dogs and cats. Despite their small size, they are known to bark quite a bit, so early training and socialization is recommended.
The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel has a silky, long coat that is sometimes slightly wavy and is flat or slightly wavy on the back. The long fur on the head and ears are quite beautiful, as are its feathery feet, undercoat and tail. The breed’s coat comes in a variety of colors, including Blenheim (marked with rich chestnut and white patches), Ruby (the deepest shade of red), Black and Tan, and Tri-Color (tan, white and black).

Cavalier King Charles Spaniels come in two different sizes: toy size and regular size. Toy Cavaliers are rarely larger than 12 inches at the withers, or the area between the shoulder blades, when fully grown. Regular size Cavaliers will usually be between 12 and 13 inches tall. In either size, the Cavalier's body should be balanced, proportional and graceful, with the head of the toy being roughly one-third the size of that of the regular.
Caviler King Charles Spaniels need a moderate amount of exercise. Generally, they should be walked and/or allowed to run around off-leash for approximately 30 minutes every day. Additionally, activities like fetch and hide-and-seek are highly recommended as they can provide additional physical activity and mental stimulation. One should, however, remember that the latter two activities should not amount to more than 30 minutes combined. This is important to ensure they don't risk overheating or straining themselves. Furthermore, the type of exercise should be taken into consideration.

Training a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is often considered an easy task as this breed is highly intelligent and enjoys pleasing their owners.
