Questions & Answers
Cavapoos are wonderful designer dogs that bring so much into any home. They are incredibly intelligent and love being around people, making them an instant companion for anyone. Cavapoos often have loving, gentle personalities, and are eager to please. The average Cavapoo stands at 10-14 inches tall, weighing 10-20 pounds, so they usually take up minimal space. They thrive in most home environments, though they need daily exercise.
The Cavapoo's coat is usually a combination of its parent breeds - the Poodle and the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. As a result, many Cavapoos can take on characteristics of both breeds. Generally, Cavapoos have either a curly or wavy coat that can come in many colors. They are low to non-shedding, making them excellent pets for those with allergies. Their coat is soft, silky, and quite dense, but not too long usually measuring 4 to 10 inches long.
Cavapoo puppies can be hypoallergenic depending on their parents' traits. Cavapoos bred from a Poodle and a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel are potentially hypoallergenic as both parent breeds are known for having low-shedding and low-dander coats. While Cavapoos may not produce as little dander or shedding as a purebred Poodle, they can still be a great choice for individuals with allergies as they typically don’t shed too much.
Preparing for your Cavapoo's arrival can be overwhelming and exciting! You should start by researching the needs of a Cavapoo puppy, such as food, toys, chew toys, treats, and other supplies. It would also be helpful to research vaccination and health care requirements to ensure your Cavapoo stays healthy. Additionally, it's a good idea to set up a potty-training schedule, containment area, and a safety checklist to prepare your home and make sure the environment is welcoming and safe when your pup arrives. Setting up crate training and playtime routines is also recommended.
The best way to train a Cavapoo puppy is to be consistent and patient, with lots of positive reinforcement. Establishing routines and rules early on is key to a successful training experience. Start by teaching your pup basic commands like sit, stay, come and heel and reward them with treats or verbal praise when they get it right. Working on crate training early is important too, as it will help keep your puppy secure when you’re not able to supervise them.
In general, Cavapoos need around 30 minutes of exercise on a daily basis. However, the exact amount of activity your Cavapoo needs depends on their age, size, and energy level. Younger, small Cavapoos need more exercise as they have higher energy levels and are investigating their environment. Adult Cavapoos need 30 minutes of moderate exercise and a few short walks during the day. If your Cavapoo is a puppy, they need to be very closely supervised while exercising, as they can play too hard and injure themselves.
Cavapoos are often considered to be excellent family dogs and do well with kids of all ages. They develop strong bonds with their families, making them very loyal companions. Cavapoos are known to be very patient and gentle with children, as they typically love to cuddle, be active and just enjoy being around people as much as possible. Cavapoos are small in size, so they don't take up much space and can easily be included in any indoor activities. Cavapoos also have a kind and pleasant temperament, which is beneficial for cultivating a good relationship with children.
The main difference between an f1b, F2, and other Cavapoo generations lies in their parentage. An f1b Cavapoo is a mix of a poodle and a Cavachon, which is a mix of a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a Bichon Frise. An F2 Cavapoo, on the other hand, is the result of breeding two F1 Cavapoos. As generations progress and the Cavapoo is further mixed with other dogs, the markings and coat coloring can become more diverse.
