Questions & Answers
A Cavapoo is a cross between a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a Poodle. This breed is known for being friendly, intelligent and highly trainable, making them the perfect companion for all kinds of families. Their coat is usually soft and their size remains small and compact, making them well suited to any size home. With a Cavapoo, you're sure to get a loyal companion who's eager to please, smart and full of personality. These loving dogs are easy to care for, and require little more than regular brushing and grooming.
The Cavapoo's coat is usually soft and fluffy, featuring a wide range of colors from black, white, to golden, brown, and red. This breed features a long coat that is wavy or curly, with large, loose curls. The Cavapoo's coat does not shed and is hypo-allergenic. This makes them highly desirable for those allergic to pet dander. As the Cavapoo matures, their hair can become more rough or wiry, adding even more of a unique look.
Cavapoo puppies are generally considered to be hypoallergenic, however this may not be true for all puppies. Some Cavapoo puppies may produce more dander, the substance that triggers allergic reactions, than others due to their genetics and coat type. The coat of a Cavapoo may vary between a straight, wavy, or curly coat, with the curly coat being the least likely to cause an allergic reaction due to its dense nature which traps less dander.
Preparing for the arrival of your Cavapoo can seem daunting, but it doesn't have to be. Start by setting up a comfortable space for your pup. Get the essentials such as a dog bed, water and food bowls, chew toys and treats, and a collar and leash. Also consider pet insurance in case of emergency. Next, you'll want to puppy-proof your home by making sure lids are tightly secured, small items are out of reach, and electrical cords are tucked away.
The best way to train a Cavapoo puppy is to begin by establishing a strong foundation of routines, manners, and commands. Start by teaching the basics: sit, stay, come, and heel. Use positive reinforcement while training sessions to reward good behaviors and discourage bad ones. Spend time each day consistently repeating commands, gradually adding in more complex commands as the puppy masters each step. Offer treats as rewards and allow plenty of time for play and rest. When interacting with the dog, use positive tones, praise, and gentle touches to build trust and create a positive bond.
Cavapoos, a hybrid of the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and the Poodle, are usually very active, energetic dogs. As such, they typically require an hour or two of exercise every day if possible. This can include walks, runs, hikes, swimming, or playing fetch and other active games. It is important to ensure that their exercise is tailored to their age, size and individual energy levels as to not over-stress or tire them too much.
Cavapoos are generally wonderful with children and make loyal, loving companions. They tend to be gentle, affectionate, and patient dogs, making them excellent family pets that love spending time with children. They have a playful and outgoing nature, which means they enjoy playing and interacting with kids but can also be very relaxed and calm. Cavapoos also have a low to moderate energy level and don’t require a lot of exercise, which makes them suitable for homes with both active and more laidback kids.
The key difference between a F1B, F2, and other Cavapoo varieties are the percentage of each of their parents’ genes that are present in the offspring. The F1B variety means that the Cavapoo pup is a cross between a purebred Cavapoo and a purebred Poodle, with an estimated 75% Poodle and 25% Cavapoo gene mix. This mix makes for a great family pet that inherits relatively low-shedding qualities from the Poodle and a more laid-back temperament from the Cavapoo.
