The Golden Retriever is best known for its long, silky golden-colored coat. It is a medium-length single coat that features a thick, water-repellent undercoat. The coat stands out due to its straight lines, with a blind parting at the neck line, chest and under the tail. The top of the head, neck and shoulders are covered with a thinner layer of hair, called a mane, which adds a softer look. The tail is plumed with long coat and its lengthy legs are covered with thick, short fur.
