Questions & Answers
A Goldendoodle is a cute and cuddly hybrid dog breed that crosses a Golden Retriever and a Poodle. Goldendoodles first burst onto the scene in the 1990s and have since gained plenty of traction! They are incredibly friendly and loving, making them a treasure to keep as a family pet. Additionally, they have a non-shedding coat which make them suitable for those who suffer from allergies or have asthma.
On average, Goldendoodles can cost anywhere between $1,000 - $3,500 depending on the puppy’s age, size, coat color, breeder, location, and lineage of the puppy. Prices may be higher for certain pedigrees or rare color variations and can go up to $5,000 in rare circumstances. It is important to take into account the services provided by the breeder as well, such as any health guarantees, shots already given, dewormings and other medical treatments, and possible registration fees.
In general, Goldendoodles make excellent trainees due to their intelligent and eagerness to please natures. Goldendoodles have a strong desire to learn and respond well to positive reinforcement and consistent instructions. As with any breed, early training from a young age is always beneficial, as it will establish desirable behaviors from the outset. Proper socialization is crucial in a Goldendoodle's development in order to ensure that the puppy grows into an emotionally healthy and well-adjusted adult dog. Proper obedience training is key for developing your Goldendoodle's full trainable potential.
On average, a Goldendoodle can live between 10-15 years. While this span can be affected by a wide range of factors such as genetics, diet and exercise, as well as providing much-needed love and care, there are steps you can take to help your four-legged friend be healthy and live their longest, fullest life. Implementing routine vet visits, quality nutrition, daily exercise and consistent socialisation can help make the most of a Goldendoodle’s natural life expectancy.
The size of a Goldendoodle is usually determined by the size of the Poodle parent, meaning it can vary dramatically depending on whether the parents were of a miniature or standard size. Full-grown Goldendoodles generally come in four sizes: teacup, miniature, medium and standard. Teacup size varies, but can be less than 14 inches tall at the shoulder and weigh under 15 pounds. Miniature Goldendoodles typically range from 15-30 pounds and stand between 15-20 inches.
Goldendoodles typically have either a curly or wavy coat, depending on the type of Poodle used in the breeding process. Commonly, Goldendoodle coats are hypoallergenic and low-shedding, although the amount of shed depends on the characteristics of each individual Goldendoodle. coats range from almost straight to loose and wavy, to a completely curly coat, but regardless, regular grooming is still important to maintain the coat’s health and ensure it doesn’t become matted.
Goldendoodles typically need quite a bit of exercise to stay physically and mentally healthy. A minimum of 30 minutes of exercise per day is the required daily amount, however, depending on your pet's activity level, they may need additional exercise and stimulus. Naptime is recommended in between exercise periods, to help replenish both energy reserves and maintain good physical health. Long runs, hikes, or playing fetch are all examples of activities that can provide satisfying exercise for your dog.
Goldendoodles are excellent companions for kids! These good-natured and friendly dogs are patient and loyal, meaning they love to spend time with their families and are very tolerant with children. Additionally, Goldendoodles are quite intelligent, so they can be taught to interact with kids in appropriate and safe ways. Goldendoodles bond quickly and strongly, so with the right socialization, training and supervision, they can provide lots of love and companionship your family.
