The Havanese, also known as the Havana Silk Dog and Blanquito de la Habana, is a small companion breed that originated in Cuba, and is the national dog of the country.
The Havanese breed has a medium-long and very soft coat that is slightly wavy, but not too frizzy or curly. The hair usually grows to 6 to 8 inches long and will part down the middle and hang straight alongside either side of the body. The Havanese's silky hair comes in a variety of shades, including white, gray, black, brown, silver, fawn, and cream. A Havanese's coat is not prone to matting, but regular brushing is still recommended.
