Fun facts about them include that they don't shed much, but groom themselves with their tongue; they require daily exercise and love playing; they're super intelligent and learn commands quickly; they come in a variety of colors, the most popular being white; and the Havaneses is the national dog of Cuba. They're also tremendous lap dogs who love to cuddle and enjoy being with their owners. Many Havaneses have a sweet personality and their size makes them great apartment dogs.
The Havanese breed is well known for its beautiful web of fur! Their coats are mostly straight, with thick, soft fur. They come in a variety of shades, from pure white to a rich, deep brown. The coat may also have patterns, like sable, tri-color and brindle. They also have a unique "peekaboo" effect, where lighter fur runs along their backs. The coat requires daily brushing to prevent mats and tangles, and will typically need to be groomed four to six times a year.
