This popular 'designer' dog is a cross between the Maltese, a toy-sized breed from the island of Malta and the Toy or Miniature Poodle. Maltipoos generally have a round face, silky soft coats, and long, feathery tails. These pooches are also known for their intelligence and for being both friendly and loyal to their families. They come in a range of colors and patterns, and can weigh anywhere from 5 to 40 pounds.
The Maltipoo's coat is usually long and soft, with a slight curl or wave. It's often described as having a topcoat that's fluffy and a first coat that's softer and more dense. The texture of their coat is most often compared to that of velvety fabric. Depending on the amount of poodle in their genetics, the Maltipoo's coat can come in a variety of colors, such as cream, black, white, and apricot. With regular brushing and bathing, the Maltipoo can maintain a healthy and tangle-free coat.
