Maltipoos are an increasingly popular mixed dog breed that blends the Maltese and the Poodle. They are a great companion breed as they love attention and make excellent family pets. Fun facts about Maltipoos include: they are hypoallergenic, they are social and friendly, they show tremendous obedience and intelligence, they love to play and learn, they can be very low-maintenance when it comes to grooming, and they can live up to 15 years with proper care. Although they are small dogs, they are not timid, and they like to show their affection for their owners.
The Maltipoo has a thick and luxurious coat. It has a long, puffy texture that can range from different lengths, such as straight to wavy. The most common coat colors are white, apricot, black, red, silver or gray. Typically the fur is soft and curly and is often hypoallergenic. This is often the perfect choice for people with allergies as this breed has a low dander coat. Maltipoos have a moderate to low shedding coat and do require regular grooming to keep it looking its best.
Maltipoos have some dietary needs that are unique compared to other toy breeds. Generally, they are recommended to consume a food that is high in proteins and low in fat, usually consisting of a combination of lean meat, vegetable and complex carbohydrates. Additionally, because Maltipoos do not have the same metabolic rate or digestive system as a regular-sized dog, they also tend to require smaller and more frequent meals, usually four to five times per day.
