Pomskies are a relatively new designer breed of dog, having only surfaced in the early 2000s when they were created by crossing a Pomeranian and a Siberian Husky. They are often called a "designer" breed, because the crossing of the two breeds was intentional, in order to create an attractive companion pet. Pomskies have the alertness of a Husky and the friendliness of a Pomeranian. They typically have a double coat, taking the colors of both parent breeds.
A Pomsky has a very unique and striking coat the texture and color depend on the parentage. Generally speaking, the coat is thick and lush, and the colors range from cream to black with other colors like white, fox red, grey, and even a chocolate brown among others. The coats often appear to be two-tone, due to their masks and other strategic markings, and they boast a very fluffy tail and ruff in addition to their soft and thick undercoat.
Pomskies typically have a similar diet to other small-breed dogs. They do however have one key difference Pomskies have a great need for protein. A balanced diet for your Pomsky should include vital proteins such as lean meats, fish, eggs, and other related and readily available proteins, as well as complex carbohydrates.
