A Poodle is a breed of dog that is known for its intelligence and adaptability. Poodles are excellent family pets and are often used in conformation shows, agility, rally, and obedience competitions. They come in three sizes: Standard, Miniature, and Toy. Poodles have a curly, hypoallergenic coat that may be clipped to form different patterns. Poodles need a moderate amount of exercise, but regular mental stimulation and grooming, such as brushing and clipping, are essential for a healthy Poodle.
The Poodle coat is very distinct in its appearance. It's composed of a thick, curly to finely crimped outer coat that varies in length depending on the particular cut or clip. They typically have a dense undercoat, as well. The characteristic look that is generally associated with the breed is from a face and body trim with shaved legs and tail while leaving the chest, shoulders, and head with a full coat. Poodles come in four size varieties: Standard, Miniature, Toy, and Teacup. Standard Poodles are the largest of the breed and typically weigh 45-70 lbs and stand at 15-24 inches tall at the shoulder.
