Bernedoodles are an increasingly popular designer breed of dog, crossing a Bernese Mountain Dog and a Poodle. Bernedoodles can be very loyal and loving companions, but they also require a lot of exercise, socialization and training. They shed very little, making them a good choice for allergy sufferers, and usually have more of the easy-going Bernese temperament rather than the more energetic Poodle. They typically come in medium to large size and can be quite intelligent.
The Bernedoodle coat is incredibly varied, depending on the parent breeds used. A Bernedoodle's coat may be straight, wavy, or curly, and can be anywhere from silky to wooly. Common colors of Bernedoodles are black, white, gray, rust, and tuxedo. They may have a single-colored coat or coat with combination of colors. Bernedoodle coats may also be a mix of the two parent breeds, being part Poodle and part Bernese Mountain Dog.
Bernedoodles are a unique and wonderful combination, both in terms of their physical characteristics and personality. It's important to feed them a diet appropriate for their size and specific needs. Bernedoodles can grow to different sizes depending on the type of Bernedoodle. Standard Bernedoodles typically reach heights of 22 to 28 inches and weigh about 65 to 90 pounds once fully grown. Miniature Bernedoodles typically reach heights of 14 to 20 inches and weigh about 25 to 49 pounds once fully grown. Micro Bernedoodles reach heights of 8 to 16 inches and weigh 10 to 24 pounds once they are grown.
How much exercise your Bernedoodle needs will depend largely on their age and level of activity, but a minimum of 20 minutes per day is recommended. Walking your Bernedoodle is an excellent way to get the recommended number of minutes they need to stay healthy. If your Bernedoodle is a puppy, their daily walk will help them become accustomed to the outside world and begin socializing with other animals. For an older dog, a longer walk or playing fetch to increase their activity is recommended.
